" The above is directly from their website. A friend from work was telling me about his plans to take a tour trip to the Ukraine. I (being a friend) did some digging around and found many websites like this one. Which at first made me think that it might be legit, to some degree.
I am sure you might have heard a news a story or two about the guy who met a girl on Match.com. Arranged a date only to be met by a couple of other guys and was robed of the wallet, phone and other valuables. There are scammers everywhere. But anyways, I might have figured out what is really going on: To all the guys who say the email system is a scam.
You are right to a degree. The girls (as stated above) are on the marriage sites for free. All photosvideossometimes clotheshairmakeup are all free. The prices for the email service and trip packages pays for all of this and agency staff salaries but some of it does go to some of the girls.
Sorry to tell you all this but it is true. Google work.ua under the beauty section you will find an ads for girls to use the service and to have you use the email service. The more popular they are the more money they make. I do believe some girls are there to find a husband.
But all girls are the same everywhere. THEY ALL WANT THE SAME THINGS! Its not like what their descriptions always say. Just being a good guy won't cut it.
Think of it like this: if you don't have the things (high paying career, multi-million dollar house, nice cars, ability to take at least 2 exotic vacations per year and some level of attractiveness) to attract them where you live, you won't attract them elsewhere. You are looking for a gold digger. The best example of one is Anna Nicole Smith. Don't get me wrong, if I was that guy I would do the same thing.
Now the part part you want to hear (maybe). If you are looking for a 20+ years younger girl with model like looks and figure, you better have the "THINGS" that are needed to support that type of wife. Now if you are upper middle class, looking for a woman closer to your own age (5 to 10 year difference) and one or two levels higher of attractiveness; I am sure you could find her. But there will be some work to *** her out of all the career daters and girls hoping to be the next Anna Nicole.
If you are middle middle class I would suggest find a wife in the Philippines. You might think China or CentralSouth America but I think you would have the same "luck" as in the Ukraine. The Philippines has a long history of girls marrying GIs when there was a base there. Lastly if you are working poor.
I am sorry. You are the nice guys the girls always write about. But NO girl is going to leave her country, friends and family to be with you. Sorry to be blunt.
Besides you have to be financially responsible for the girl to get a K1 visa. JUST try to use the dating sites here in the USA to find a woman on your economical and attractiveness level. Once again not being mean. But girls are the same all over the world.
If you don't have the "THINGS" to attract women at home... About seeing the same girl on multiple marriage agencies (ie: A Foreign Affair, 1russainbrides, mypartnerforever, etc.), the above agency (andor others) first signed her up and gave her profile to others to give her better exposure. To get more men to email her. My tip to all of you trying to find love, don't give up.
Be safe. And be realistic. If you don't have the "THINGS" here, you won't have the "THINGS" there neither. If the girl has been on the site for along time, the girl your emailing might be an Ukrainian agency staff member just taking your money for email service.
Skype if the site allows it. I wouldn't go on a trip if I wasn't sure the girl or girls were going to be there or even real. Remember, no Skype = scam. There are other agencies that allow it.
Just find one that YOU feel comfortable with. P.S. To the guy who talked about the descriptions being copied and pasted. Googling the descriptions was a great tip.
I tried it randomly and find one copied and pasted from a girl on state side dating site, I passed that tip to my friend. P.P.S. From reading the 10 things listed above, I now understand why a lot of girls talk about psychology in their descriptions or place it in the hobby list. Also all the talk about fairy tales and princes.
Also I believe it's the interpreter (of dishonest Ukraine agencies) who tells the girl to "ring up" the diner bill and to go shopping if she doesn't like you. A way of getting something out of nothing. P.P.P.S.
If the above statement doesn't make sense in some areas, blame Google. Chrome translated it.
Email experience is a fraud
I haven't been on a tour, so I can't speak to that. And if you want to read about a site that worked well for me, skip to the bottom.
I signed up online for A Foreign Affair about a month ago. I sent initial messages to several very attractive women, and the response rate was nearly 100%. I've never seen that on any other site. All of the responses were very positive, asked lots of questions, and I exchanged up to seven emails with six different women.
Each time you open an email, it costs $9.99 ($7.49 for Platinum members). Each time you send an email, same deal. Most of the women attached up to five different photos. Cost to open each photo: $3.50.
Cost to send a photo, $3.50. I spent $360 in two weeks doing this. The site has a rule that no personal contact information can be exchanged until the woman goes to the nearest office of A Foreign Affair and signs your IMBRA disclosure. In theory, it's to protect the women, but in reality, it's to protect the company's profits, which have to be astronomical.
I politely requested of each of the six women that she sign my IMBRA form and send me her contact information. Not one has complied, but they keep sending me emails on the AFA site. I pointed out to each of them that, for all I know, the person writing to me could be a fat bald guy in a warehouse somewhere. Any reference in an email to SKYPE or Viber or to an email address is automatically deleted and replaced with X's.
But even when I got around this by disguising my information, none of the women contacted me, yet they continued to express interest via AFA in having a relationship and eventually meeting me. So the question is why, and I don't know the answer. Are the women getting a percentage of every dollar they squeeze out of lonely men? Probably.
Is there a target they have to hit before giving out their information? Maybe. Or are they just told that they won't be able to use the site or attend "socials" once they've given out their contact info? Dunno.
Whatever the reason, I have no indication that using the email services of AFA will result in anything more than fat profits for the company. Given the questionable ethics of the email service, I'm inclined to believe the assertions elsewhere on this board that many of the women at the "socials" are hired guns, too. Bottom line: The way AFA keeps so many beautiful women on its site is by not letting any of them off it. If you don't mind paying through the nose for the privilege, you can have the fantasy that some of them like you.
Russian Cupid: Eighteen months ago, I signed up for Russian Cupid and met several very attractive, 40-something women online. We talked on Skype (important to verify who you're talking to) and exchanged many emails over a couple of months. I arranged to meet four women on a monthlong trip to Russia, and it went very well with three. They were each attractive, intelligent, friendly, open and honest with me.
One of the three I decided not to pursue because her English was minimal. Another was preoccupied with her ailing mother after my visit, so I had to let her go. But I went back in December(!) to visit the third, and I paid for her to visit me in the U.S. on a tourist visa the following spring.
I very seriously considered asking her to marry me. Ultimately, I decided that she wasn't the one, sadly. There were no red flags, but I felt that we ultimately didn't have enough in common.
Anyway, I would use Russian Cupid again. I think the cost was about $30 a month and it was well worth it.
- Quality and selection of women to meet
- Fraudulent come-ons from women
- Being nickled and dimed for hundreds of dollars
Preferred solution: Change your model to reveal both parties' contact information after five emails have been exchanged.
All Letters were blue.
I decided to try this site for 2 months and what a mistake that was.
It states when you receive a blue letter it is the agency writing you for the girls on the site and if you receive a green it is the girl. Once you post your profile it is game on with the agencies your luck chum in the water and the great white Russian sharks move in for the kill.
Get out while you can because your getting ready to get chewed up and spit out.
I contact the office and they pretty much said our sharks are really good are they not. I had to call my bank who reverse all the charges and got my money back please do the same it you were rip off by this site AFA.
A Foriegn Affair review: What AFA doesn't tell you
Prior to my November trip to Costa Rica, I enthusiastically corresponded with several lovely women expecting to me them once there. Yes, the $9.95 e-mails, both going and coming, were a little steep, but I understood the company's service deserves to be compensated.
Once I arrived, I sent a few more $10 e-mails to let a few would-be dates know so. My new phone number was XX'd out, so with another $10 I asked a would-be date if she knew what to do so we could make direct contact. She produced AFA's San Jose telephone number. The manager brusquely told me that it was easy, just pay $125 for my registration in their office, then $75 for each woman's phone number I wanted to acquire.
I went back to the website and found no such information. Ah, that left me in a pickle; invested some money to get to Costa Rica, and needing to cough up unbudgeted hundreds more if I wanted to meet these nice locals. It ended being not a financial decision, but one of principle; I wasn't going to send any more money the way of this unscrupulous company. I even tracked down the AFA office in San Jose, and told Andrea there my predicament.
She was sympathetic, but assured me that she wasn't there to provide customer service and that I'd have to call AFA Arizona office (international rates) to discuss. Two e-mailed customer service requests, and two customer service survey responses to AFA have gone unreplied.
Buyer beware. DM
- Quality and selection of women to meet
- Leave remote office staff to do dirty work
- Not transparent on how the process works
- No-response customer service
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
Site employs women to write letters
Sorry u went through that good thing shes not a psyco.
Should have these read reviews first/then the disclaimer "entertainment" only
- Your freaking kidding me right
- Being lied to and finding out these are just paid actors
Preferred solution: Full refund
Likely a very well-crafted scam
I have an intuition that the ladies on these sites are groomed to generate
money for the company, particularly the hottest, youngest ones.
Consider: the company gets $10 per letter from the men who write to their thousands of international women (I'm quite sure the women pay nothing to write and open letters), and also for the men to open their responses. I reckon millions of dollars have been generated this way,(consider the power of solicitous & flirtatious behavior by exotic, faraway prospects on lonely, disgruntled, love-and-sex-starved men) and knowing capitalism as I do, it wouldn't be a stretch at all to imagine the company advising the ladies on how to draw out a correspondence, or multiple ones, the better to keep those dollars rolling in.
I suspect the ladies are paid a "cut" of the money that they generate, and so you have 20-something, drop-dead-gorgeous women all over the globe squeezing money from older guys with hints and insinuations of pleasure and happiness to come. Just a suspicion.
A foreign affair is a scam
My experience
I wrote to a woman in Ukraine for more than 4 months, then I took the "tour" and met up with her while there. I had told her I was coming to see her.
To make a long story short, all went well,a year later I brought her and her 11 year old daughter to the U.S. under the fiance visa program. Well it was only after we married that she told me the truth. She had not even heard of me until i said I was coming to see her, then the agency in Mariupol went to her and convinced her to see me and go out with me. It had been someone in the agency who had been writing me.
Yes it can get costly, so my advice is to immediately get her phone number and email address, and don't take any excuses . Its too easy to get focused on one, when there are millions of fish in the ocean . This is not the only agency that I have encountered fraud, but it seems to be from her agency each time and not from U.S.
I hope this will help someone. Sincerely Bill
Odessa!!!!
First of all..DONT listen to anyone who hasnt been on a tour. Its like reviewing a car without even seeing it in person let alone test driving it.
Ok. Now my experience. Did u know that only 3 in 100 men who write letters actually go! Are the girls real?are they out for money?is ukraine safe?
I had been writing letters on a differnt site for years.anastasiatedate.com.waste of time. Every single girl i asked ti meet on this site was real. They all showed up for a date. Your value in ukraine is sky high provided your not overweight.
So get in shape before u go. There are women there who are out for your wallet. Hard to believe. Moving on...ukraine especially odessa is super cheap.
Your dollar goes a long way. Odessa is magic in the summer.think prague. Afa was first class. The social was the most amazing nite of my life...im going back for 2 months.
If u are even cinsidering going.. just man up and go....you will owe me one.
A pop up from google said this sight is not secure
AFA tells you Do Not Write Letters
Okay, I have seen reviews and complaints that state the Foreign Affair or Loveme.com site is a scam... I have been to the AFA seminars and at every one they tell you "Do Not Write Letters" they recommend that you only write when your are scheduled to visit the woman that interest you and you have a airplane ticket in hand... they (AFA)...also tell you that if the woman you are writing has not asked you "When are you coming to see me???" ... by the third letter that is a clue. Unfortunately overseas offices are not always well managed and letter writing is a way to generate revenue.
I have used the site and written letters to offices in China and the Cebu Office in the Philippines. I did have issues with the letters to China the responses were not even semi related to my letter or the questions I asked. A Issue? No not an issue, one phone call to the Phoenix Office and I was refunded for the letters in question. Virtual email is email and there is no guarantee that your email will be seen and will likely end up in the ladies junk mail. I never received any answer from any virtual email. None of this makes this site a scam.
I wrote letters to two woman in Cebu and both responded with answers to questions asked and they also asked their own. I attended the Cebu Social in August 2014 and met both ladies that I was writing for a short 5 weeks before I arrived for the tour. One of those ladies is now my wife. AFA is legitimate company and the tour where you actually meet the women are also legit. Yes some women and their profiles have been on the site out of the overseas office sometimes for years...not all women are available all the time, some have lost interest, some are just not available that date and time as they have work and families. You will never establish a real relationship through the mail. Until you actually physically meet, it is all a fantasy and wishful thinking.
Great experience

Has anyone contacted a woman directly (her own email) using A Foreign Affair without going on a tour?
Yes and she turned out to be Russian Organized Crime and tried to steal everything including my house and then just got worse. And NJ supports organized crime and terror especially the really bad areas across from the cities including Bergen County and Camden County.
Loveme.com and the associate web site sharing the same email system is a total fraud, ask a Skype with video and the girls deseapear.
Some of the girls have been 30 years old since 10 years. You are free to have your money ripped off !
reads like an advertisement for an alternate agency. foreign affair is a travel focused agency, not a chat site, they even tell you this in hundreds of there videos. you used it wrong.....
Sure, sure.... And this is why they charge the men for EVERY letter sent and received, and for every photo opened... because it's not a "chat site"...
