Total Scam

You write all these letters and the only letters you will get a response is the ones that you pay for....They have what they call virtual e-mail...total scam nor replies...immediate on all the ones you pay for. Went on a tour not one girl I requested showed up, they had one cell phone for about 20 guys. This was how we were to meet or pick of the girls....not one phone number was legit......AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST..the owner went along on the trip and became a little concerned when I told him how I felt and not one phone number was correct or real.......RIP OFF STAY AWAY

I consider myself as a fairly intelligent dude, been in a successful businessman all my life, but have to admit I got suckered into writing a few letters to ladies on AFA. This letter writing thing is unbelievably corrupt, unsavoury and a complete scam on an...

The spam has ceased

I presume that A Foreign Affair got the message from me. I haven't seen ANY spam since about a week or two after my initial comment here. I have yet to arrange a trip through this service. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime; if you want to explore international dating, use a service that doesn't require that you pay to open any letters and charge you crazy fees to send letters like Elena's Models. Pay a one-time fee; meet some dates and talk to them via Skype or Whatsapp (PLEASE use the OFFICIAL website and NOT a link sent via email - scammers LOVE that tactic).

Review in Media category from Laurel, Maryland

I've been following this site for about 8 years now. I did have a seemingly decent conversation with one lady about 7 years ago, but I'll admit that I wasn't truly ready for any relationship at the time. I think that the woman I was conversing with was legitimate, though. As of now though, I have absolutely no profile picture or description on the site. All the site has is an old physical address; my email address; and my name. Yet, I have been bombarded with spam letters for at least 5 years. I have entertained myself with clicking on the files; yet, I hate when my intellect is insulted. Letters from all of their locations and ages. A couple of letters with the exact heading. Of course I have never opened any of the letters. I've been tempted to calling in on one of John Adams' webinars to act like a troll for these actions by this company. Now, I'm in a position where a trip to China and/or Ukraine has been on my mind. To anyone reading: I think I may pay for the upcoming Ukrainian trip more out of curiousity and experience than to find a wife. If I make the trip, I'll report my results here. I would strongly caution anyone that all you need to do to see if a potential foreign date is legitimate today is for you to get Skype and see if she's fine with you seeing exactly who she is. If not, then run the other way. International dating is a minefield; you have to know how to tread cautiously.

A friend of mine has gone to the Dominican Republic and met a few women. I emailed one woman in China who started talking about making love almost right away.

I complained to AFA and the company refunded me all the money from 5 or 6 letters to and from the woman. (She is still on the site. Hm.) I've been thinking about writing to one woman near Hong Kong and trying to set up a meeting, but I am a little bit put off by the AFA requirements. Scam?

Maybe not.

Expensive? Yes.

#1162630

Actually, Skype won't eliminate all the scams. Some women will be happy for you to come, wine and dine her at expensive restaurants where she gets a kick-back from the management, drive around in a taxi (driven by her cousin) which will charge you exorbitant rates, maybe even insist on a translator who will also give her a kick-back, then after a few days start to feel "unsure" about your compatibility and send you on your way.

A Foreign Affair website

I became interested in A Foreign Affair" because I have a couple of friends I made from the area via my search for an Au Pair several years ago. One from Moscow (now in Malta) and the other in Serviodnsk.. The later is trying to come over as a student for a while and i offered her housing. Anyway, they recently denied her F1 visa, and as i had formed some affection, attachment, and respect for the Ukraine girl, I thought I would google Ukraine womwne and see what came up. I am no stranger to these cram sites, such as Anastasia.com, and the only reason I entertained the loveme, com site was the talk about the euro tour, ie, go to Kiev for a week and meet girls via an agency, 3 per day, for a week..cost is $800 (which by the way is about 8 months salary for many in Ukraine)..So I made a profile, just to be enterred in the free giveaway sweepstakes..but did not up grade. So no pictures of me, no bio, just a birthdate and a email.. Since then I have have beem bombarded with email, all with model photo (shopped skin )quality and comming at all hours of the day and night, night in Ukraine as well..I shared this with my friend there and she assured me this is fraud and that I will never meet the girl I seek on such a website..The problem now, and my complaint, is that there is no way or link to shut off my registered profile, and spamming the emails doesn't work either (another scam indicator).. I of course emailed them and called customer service (where you get a message machine), but no response. I now wonder if i were to try to sign up fro one of these tours if its just another scam..take the money and run..Clearly I will not be doing that without talking to customer service with some grovelling on their part.. My friend also has a cousin in Kiev and I can ask her to investigate..but why bother really if they can't answer their phone.. Another red flag is that this site also links to mutiple other countries and if you accidentilly click to open a profile on one of the senders and they are from one of those (China and South america being the main ones) you start getting bombarded by emails of women from those countries..My inbox is flooded! Its all very clever computer programming, but all designed to lure men, like the guy before me, into paying the $10 (now $5.95) an email or upgrade to the premium member ($95), which might be worth it but for the story this guy just told and i am sure is true.. Yours truely BK

I hear you on the frustration to read $6 emails but they told me they charge a fee because they want to have yours and hers translated correctly so they pay translators. Ok fine but doesn't explain a extra $5 if they attach a photo.

I was able to Chat Live with customers service which took probably 10 minutes to connect. And when speaking to Anna she told me someone would call me if I wanted. I told her I made a phone request days before with no reply. She said give me her number and guaranteed someone would call.

I did and they called within seconds. I was informed that they do NOT encourage letter writing simply because they are just words on a screen. And the success rate of back and forth writing is actually very LOW. Flying to one of there tours has a much higher success rate.

The question I'm asking myself is, is $5000 to $10000 by the time it's all said and done worth it. I'll let you know when I come back.

You have to answer that for yourself. Be Well.

AFA is scammer

Yes I agree I tried two of their profile and the same, very generic emails I received and very fast response (just the next day)! The text while had very strong English in most parts that showed an American wrote or translated but then had silly mistakes on purpose to make me believe a Russian has wrote the letter! I suspected her right away and asked her if you are true take a piece of paper and write my name on it and then while showing it to the camera take a photo and send it to me. She answered could not do that because just the day before her cellphone broken and she now does not have any thing to take the photo!!!

AFA is trying to defraud and manipulate men into paying them money

AFA is surely a scam to all thoose considering writing to theese women don;t waste your money or your time. I went on one of thier tours in Cebu Philipines what a waste of money that was. The women are not writing to you it's a scam they employ letter writers to write to unsuspecting men. When I met a few of the ladies I had written to they had no idea who I was and told me they just found out I had written to them. Imagine that they tell the women not to tell me about thier ongoing scam. Should send thier CEO to prison.

Just Go

My input and experience regarding AFA Romance Tours, ...GO! Just GO! Do not write ANY letters unless you have a seat on a plane! No substitute for being there, no real need to waist any money writing anyone... the key factor is; You Must Be There Physically! Arrive with a list of possibilities or sort through the profiles when you get there...but you have to get there! When you have Plane Tickets. then if you are really compelled to do so, only write to a few women. Starting a letter with "I am coming to (Her city) on (Date)...I find your profile interesting maybe we could get to know each other a little before I arrive? That format will get a response, if she is genuinely interested... no lady that is serious about a relationship wants a pen-pal or e-mail buddy...THEY WANT TO SEE YOU, Touch You, Look into Your Eye's and know you are real! Isn't that what us GUYS WANT TOO? No letter can do what one actual meeting can accomplish. I know because I wrote two women before I arrived on my tour. One of those women is now my Fiancée...we were engaged after our first meeting! Sometimes you write expecting her to be the one, and she is not. No Chemistry, nice lady but not your future. In my case the chemistry was WOW! The in person meeting could not have been a better meeting; it by far exceeded both her and my wildest expectations! Both women (yes only two) that I corresponded with were over forty which was in my desired age group...what your preferred criteria may be is your criteria, you may eliminate the perfect woman for too strict of a requirement list ...but stick to it and focus! Not easy to focus with over a hundred pretty ladies, and girls, with bright expectant brown eyes, and long black hair, all trying to get your attention! The socials are a whirlwind of fun games, laughter, talking and meeting with every lady! It is a lot to take in...keep notes and stay ...focused! Your may actually find the woman of your dreams...I did. One final note. Do not sell yourself or her short! Deciding on your future partner in life for the rest of your life is not an offhand decision. It takes time and turmoil of emotions for both of you. Get to know the woman, and let her know the man. Take as much time to do that as you possibly can...stay for the two week tour (or longer is possible) a week or ten days fly's by entirely too fast. As you can see, my experience was wonderful and I am thankful.

This post was written by a staff member at AFA or BUD Patterson. AFA is always telling the guys to go on the group tours and not to write.

They HYPE how men need to not write letters and take their AFA tour. Their tours and trying to meet Ukraine women are just as disappointing as writing letters. These Ukraine women could care less about American men. Ukraine women see American men as a means of making money and getting treated to a free night out.

Think about how many groups of American men have gone before you to the Ukraine and dated or met these women. If you think your going to get lucky and these Ukraine women are waiting for you with open arms you are sadly mistaken my friend and will be very disappointed or go broke trying to find a good Ukraine women. Come on guys.

you need to ask questions and do some critical thinking and analyze the women that are on the AFA site. Don't listen to the fast talkers use you head and make an informed decision.

@PissedConsumer942550

I used them years ago and I met a nice girl in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This was a long time ago, but they were upright then. I don't think this is a staff member that wrote the above.

#1189641
@PissedConsumer942550

This post was written by me...RMarion, Glendale, AZ. I've never been to the Ukraine or Russia, but I went to Cebu, Philippines in Aug 2014.

There I met and became engaged to my wife Profile #146526. The values of women in the USA are not anywhere near the values of a Filipina. Are ALL Filipina's honest, moral, good, and loyal women? No...but there are those like my wife that are all that.

Are there some in every country that want a shopping trip and money?

Yep...Some who want a Green Card? Yep, but like you said use your head (The Big One) when dating ANY Woman from Anywhere.

Thanks for the great review. They're even worse golddiggers and scammers if they can trick their way into the U.S.A.

They usually have even worse friends. Sanctuary states are the worst about letting all the g*****e in and then joining in the fraud.
